TOP 5 FOR RAFFAELE MARCELLO AT MONZA IN THE GT CHALLENGE EUROPE
The eight stage of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS 2024 took place last weekend in Monza. Marciello, competing in the PRO category, was up first in qualifying; he finished with 1:45.165, two tenths of a second behind the best time. Maxime Martin and Valentino Rossi drove in the two remaining sessions and placed team WRT’s BMW M4 GT3 #46 in the seventh spot on the starting grid.
In the race, Marciello opened hostilities with an extraordinary sprint, which saw him take advantage of the collisions happening at the Prima Variante and jump from seventh to third. He then spent the rest of his stint battling with Guven’s Porsche #22 and Rovera’s Ferrari #51, and was able to complete a lap in an impressive 1:45.447. After 55 minutes (as set forth by the rules) he went back to the box and passed the wheel to Rossi. The team suffered a first blow when a long full course yellow upset their strategies, but still hoped to fight for the victory. Sadly, another interruption ended their chances, and the #46 had to settle for fifth place.
This result brings precious points for the championship standings, and the team now hopes to finish with a bang on November 30th in Jeddah, where the last endurance stage will take place.
TOP 5 PER RAFFAELE MARCIELLO A MONZA NEL GT WORLD CHALLENGE EUROPE
L’Autodromo Nazionale Monza ha ospitato l’ottavo appuntamento del Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS 2024, la quarta tra le corse di durata. Raffaele Marciello ha partecipato all’evento in compagnia di Maxime Martin e Valentino Rossi, a bordo della BMW M4 GT3 #46 del team WRT, in categoria PRO. Il team belga ha affidato al pilota di Zurigo la prima delle tre fasi di qualifica, registrando un tempo di 1:45.165, a due decimi dalla migliore prestazione. I risultati di Martin e Rossi nelle successive due sessioni hanno consentito al team di partire dalla settima posizione.
Marciello ha preso il volante della BMW per la partenza della corsa ed è stato autore di uno scatto straordinario, sfruttando i contatti avvenuti alla Prima Variante, passando da settimo a terzo. Lo stint di Raffaele è stato caratterizzato da una lunga sfida con la Porsche #22 di Guven e la Ferrari #51 guidata da Rovera, aumentando il distacco sugli inseguitori giro dopo giro. Nel suo stint, Marciello ha anche fatto registrare un 1:45.447. Dopo 55 minuti, obbligatori da regolamento, lo svizzero è rientrato ai box per farsi sostituire da Rossi. La gara della #46, successivamente, è stata condizionata da una lunga full course yellow che ha stravolto le strategie. La BMW di WRT ha lottato per la vittoria, finché un’ulteriore fase di neutralizzazione ne ha sfavorito la strategia. Rossi ha tagliato il traguardo in quinta posizione.
Il team ha dunque guadagnato punti preziosi per le classifiche del campionato, che vedrà la sua ultima tappa endurance in Arabia Saudita, sul circuito di Jeddah, il 30 novembre 2024.
