Hey there guys! Budapest allowed me to bring home more precious points. I am stoked about the fourth place obtained on Saturday, but less about Sunday’s eight place.
On Hungary’s spectacular track I have finished fourth after obtaining the eight best time in qualifying. The choice of race strategy has proven perfect, in particular thanks to a careful management of the tires, and I found myself in front, piling up fast laps one after the other. Even the obligatory pit stop, which took place about ten laps before the end of the race, didn’t penalise me much, and I was able to bag twelve heavy, crucial points – a positive result that lifted me form fifth to third place in the general standings.
Things didn’t go as well on Sunday, in a race that was plagued by accidents. I started fourth on the grid and not long after another car spun out, collided with mine, and sent me off track. I kept my cool and got back in the race, although of course I lost some positions. I finished eight (which means I’ve brought home points in eleven out of twelve races so far) and held on to my third place in the general standings.
It could have gone better, but also worse. I am happy about my Saturday performance and about the third place in the general standings. It is harder to take stock of the sprint race, because it was such a messy, complicated race.
In a few days I will be in Germany, in Hockenheim, ready to give it my all to stay in front!

Altri punti importanti
Ciao ragazzi! A Budapest ho portato a casa altri punti utili per la classifica generale. Benissimo il 4º posto di sabato, discreto l’ottavo di domenica.
Sul sempre spettacolare circuito ungherese, nella corsa principale del fine settimana, ho chiuso al 4º posto dopo aver ottenuto l’ottavo tempo in qualifica. La strategia di gara è stata perfetta e grazie a un’oculata gestione delle gomme, a un certo punto mi sono ritrovato a condurre le danze inanellando giri veloci su giri veloci. Anche l’obbligatorio passaggio ai box per il cambio-gomme, quando alla fine della gara mancavano una decina di giri, non mi ha danneggiato più di quel tanto, consentendomi di incassare 12 punti molto pesanti. Un risultato positivo, insomma, che mi ha anche fatto risalire dalla quinta alla terza posizione nella classifica generale.
Soddisfazioni minori sono invece arrivate dalla gara veloce di domenica. Una corsa, questa, dominata da una lunga serie di incidenti. Sono scattato in quarta posizione e dopo pochi metri sono stato coinvolto mio malgrado in un testacoda di un altro pilota che, toccandomi, mi ha portato fuori pista. Ho comunque mantenuto il sangue freddo e sono riuscito a tornare subito in gara, anche se in una posizione più defilata. Sono entrato ancora in zona punti (ed è l’undicesima volta che accade in 12 gare), chiudendo ottavo e salvando contemporaneamente il terzo gradino della classifica generale. Poteva andare meglio, ma poteva anche andare peggio, insomma.
Di buono c’è sicuramente la conquista del terzo posto della classifica generale e la solida gara di sabato. Difficile, invece, dare un giudizio della sprint race, tante sono state le cose “particolari” che l’hanno caratterizzata.
Tra pochi giorni si torna in pista in Germania: a Hockenheim voglio stare davanti!
